“I’m pretty sure, I’m not a doctor — but I’m pretty sure if you die, the cancer dies at the same time. That’s not a loss. That’s a draw.

“Death is a funny thing. Not funny haha, like a Woody Allen movie, but funny strange, like a Woody Allen marriage” – Norm MacDonald

This is the clip, and all you need. It’s not totally funny… there’s laughs, jokes. Norm talks Straight Line and Richard Farnsworth… and that if he had any cancer “You don’t know if I do or don’t”, that he wouldn’t talk about it, and he thinks the bravest thing is to not alert people, worry people, or profit off people’s concerns. The most amazing of men, and I took a solid life lesson from this… about strength, and grace:

“Every planet in our solar system is named after a God, except Earth.

Earth is named for all the stuff on the ground.”

“I was once trapped on a desert island, and the 5 albums I brought didn’t help a goddamn thing”

(Both from his Netflix show)

This old podcast is fantastic… Marc Maron and Norm: https://www.wtfpod.com/podcast/repost-norm-macdonald-from-2011

Also, this Larry King is wonderful. Norm brings up the anecdote about Nabakov, after Larry King says “he’s scared to not exist”. Nabakov looked at a picture of his mom, older brother and sister, prior to him being born. He said “I don’t feel dread or anxiety looking at a photo prior to me existing, so I must know that I will not know dread or worry after I exist”. Unreal.

The Burr clips at the front are hilarious, Goldblum is charming… but I start with Conan on Norm. I remember so many of these clips, and Conan’s right… back in the day something would happen and you’re like “that is the best comedy that’s ever happened, and 10 people saw it and no one will see it again”, prior to youtube hosting all the history of the world.

This is a FAR FAR higher quality clip of the entire Courtney Thorne Smith interview that he crashed.

This is Conan and Andy’s emergency podcast in response to Norm passing, just to get their thoughts out there in an expression of love and grief:

Also, Bob Saget’s subdued love note to Norm is just fantastic:

Although the end is beautiful, it is really heartbreakingly sad to watch in 2021. I’m all laughs, but watching the greats fall isn’t the timeline I signed up for, and here it is. Seeing Norm’s love for comedy, Dave, and the experience of life all align to tears and cracking a few times (likely only time in his career) is just pure beauty.

When he gets choked up at the end. This earnest, gentle, kind man…. I miss him so:

Then here’s Jim Norton trying to roast and gets the what-fer:

The Pig Joke

The Moth Joke:

My god watching a guy like Norm paint in front of lost people…

Watch his talk show on Netflix. He interviews Drew Barrymore, Judge Judy, Jane Fonda, Chevy Chase, Michael Keaton, Lorne Michaels, and more! It’s sad to lose people, but there’s the tidal wave of unearthing content.

Norm MacDonald has a show! https://www.netflix.com/title/80225949

Norm Macdonald live, a video podcast w/ many guests, the first is Bob Einstein as Super Dave. I’m realizing Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee might be killing comedians, inclusive of Gary Shandling. https://archive.org/details/Norm_Macdonald_Live

It’s sort of like this:

This clip is funny unless you’re an angry teacher that doesn’t like comedy. Seriously, he set this woman on fire as politely as one does.

Here’s Norm Macdonald holding a weiner dog.

The whole View thing made them so uncomfortable, but this clip is hilarious:

SO DARK NORM… the shallow grave joke.

If you’re having trouble understanding why it’s all Norm, all the time… he meant so much to so many. Even Dave’s special, released Tuesday of this week on Netflix, was dedicated to him. Norm’s final joke is that literally no one knew he was sick. He never made it about himself. Miss ya, buddy.

Also, after Garry Shandling, Bob Einstein, and Norm… is Jerry’s “Comedians in Cars getting coffee” killing comics?
