I admit, I struggled in understanding someone’s unquestioned faith in light of their own self-awareness about reality and the characters they were playing. This is such a refreshing take on someone’s deeply held beliefs, because it’s easy to completely lose sight that people even exist in this way, compared to all the hate and hypocrisy.

This live production Das Rheingold has the rare baritone and actual operatic voices, but is incredibly faithful to Wagner’s original stage design and direction. It’s not the best quality for 1990, but it’s amazing quality in 1990, as well. There’s so much classical I want to see live.
