THIS IS TOO IMPORTANT NOT TO POST ABOUT – Read this Paul Krugman article please

“So it’s now highly likely that the presidential candidate of one of our two major political parties will either be a man who believes what he wants to believe, even in the teeth of scientific evidence, or a man who pretends to believe whatever he thinks the party’s base wants him to believe.

And the deepening anti-intellectualism of the political right, both within and beyond the G.O.P., extends far beyond the issue of climate change.”

Thoughts:

I think I am an “Economist Conservative” – Social liberally (as in I am not stupid enough to think my personal beliefs, however conservative or liberal, should be blindly pushed towards the rest of civilized, or uncivilized, society), while being stringently, markedly, overtly conservative fiscally.

Prepare for an economy that will not exist like some drunken coke whore on a spending and hoarding spree. Settle in for some meager times of slow stall to no growth…. that’s just the rationalism injecting itself into a consumer focused capitalist economy. We are not so easily duped or brainwashed anymore, and although what has been preached to us for years (a vestige of our grandparent’s finger waggled advice towards moderation and saving via the great depression) — fiscal responsibility, savings, watch out for credit cards and debt — will actually *hurt* the economy if we adopt responsible management of personal finances, we are ready to stop buying crap for crap’s sake, tired of the overwhelming stress of “stuff”, and are ready to live in a simpler, less productive / consumptive economy that is productive / consumptive for the sake of being that sort of economy.

A new GDP needs to be considered… something that rates overall happiness, health, and personal definition of what “success” means so that people stop raping one another in an ethics devoid business world that is driven by a cold and calculating investor-centric bottom line. There’s nothing wrong with being good and smart at business, but that fine line of overtly unethical behavior is too easy to stumble over, or crack through.

For decades, this sanguine, measured approach to personal fiscal responsibility was constantly heralded, as if some awe-inspired myth, but something we completely lost sight of. We based our entire economy off gluttony and mindless consumption as a measure of health and fitness. That mentality scourged the earth, and took it’s toll; now that we are settling back down to earth, these dying roars of a cancerous economy are painful & will echo… withdrawal pains from the rapacious high ripple throughout every corner of the country, now that we are doing what we are supposed to be doing: people focus on health, quality of life, fitness, relationships, and experience. There is endless data to support it, some of which is here.

So all this being said, I am running for President of the United States under the Republican Party’s new “Pro-Science, Data, Facts, and Research with cited sources and references” party.  Thank you for welcoming me into the fold. I have no money, so that’s a problem.  Actually… that’s the problem with politics: making it about money immediately makes it into some sort of marxist class battle.  Now we don’t really want *more* battles, guys, do we?

BUT.. the real point of the article:  Anti-Science, and Anti-Intellectualism.  HEY REPUBLICAN PARTY:  I am a conservative that might vote for a moderate centrist type.  I am a GIANT silent majority that doesn’t like mindless frivolity from the left, as well as the hateful, archaic, mindless bullshit your spew on the fringe right, who also happen to be captivating our country and your party.  So figure it out.

You guys aren’t playing with fire…. you are about to raise the United States to the ground with blathering, mindless idiocy.  It’s depressing that it has been nothing more than cute until now.. but these people are COMPLETELY insane, and vestiges of past times that we have “evolved” beyond.

SORT YOUR SHIT OUT GOP… or you are going to destroy this country you don’t even understand enough to love like you say you do.
