Dirty Little Potato People! AKA Ep #131 – The one with that guy’s laugh into the next 30 eps???
I don’t know if I can do it. I’m in first run of the podcast, since August, and I’ve been popping in for random thoughts and memories for all ya old timers. =) I sorta wonder if the Uber Driver was my friend. I’ll find out. But as for He-Man, it occurs to me Skeletor was just trying to get his house back. In other thoughts:
The Laugh
The laugh is too much, and Erin’s finest addition to the podcast might be this moment right here. I know the next ep they bring him up, but come on. Harmontown is sorta funny in that the “we won’t bully you” thing is a) thrown out whenever they want, but they’re truly earnest in trying to be inclusive and just, even prior to all our SJW era. It’s really cool. But it also opens up a feedback loop of attention seeking behavior. I am not saying the guy’s laugh was forced and not genuine, but someone had mentioned he did that on another live podcast, as well, so whatever. People genuinely seemed displeased in the initial reactions, which is nice. But here’s the fact: I’ve a hugely loud laugh, and I’m a self aware member of all audiences. Guess what’s not hard to do as an adult? Modulate the volume of your voice. I mean, you’re not Austin Powers coming out of decades of cryo-sleep. “We don’t bully here”, but when you’re obviously trying to become part of the show such that you derail it, it needs sorting out. Hopefully I Stockholm Syndrome this guy and it isn’t that bad. Someone mentioned it goes on for many eps. Ugh.
I also appreciate that some of the people on this sub love when new people get to this point of the podcast. LOL It was already weird with Jeff coming back from the absence, No D&D, and Spencer being super “grumpy” (prior episode).
Judge Doom’s screams is more like it, tho: https://youtu.be/1D9v0dfa6AI?t=182
SMURFS, but not about the density of their cartilage.
But the Smurf thing is a REALLY big deal for me, as it has been an ongoing thought experiment / argument that can’t be explained within the universe. Years later I found the real answer*, but I’m still hot on these silly discussions, like “Can Superman fly without his cape?”. Also, Vanity was a beautician, and I’m making some personal assumptions about his mannerisms.
This legitimately has been in my head since I was a kid, and my jaw dropped that they briefly touched on it during this ep 131.
Smurfs are 3 Apples High. I am conservative with my numbers here….
Even if you took crab apples, we’re talking about 9″ tall. When they walk into their houses, which are all 2 stories (and they’re built to look like cute little mushrooms, they’re not actually mushrooms), I’m gonna guess the headroom in the house is probably 12″ total per level, making that mushroom house about 2 feet tall. Just look at that. So if you’ve got a 2 foot tall fucking houses, not to mention other house styles that are way taller…. inclusive of smurfberry and grain silos, that likely soar to 4-5.5ft? And all this is in a village layout that has to have some sort of infrastructural complexity and city planning?
Either something is incredibly wrong with that universe, or Gargamel has won worst villain ever. Could you imagine he caught them and realized alchemy is bunk? NO GOLD FOR YOU.
Anyways, thought I’d share that pearl. And my numbers were off! In the deep rabbit hole of research I did… someone calculated the worth of the village! See below.
