- Single bee is making an immortal clone army thanks to a genetic fluke: One bee has cloned itself millions of times over the past three decades. the South African Cape honeybee (Apis mellifera capensis) — can create perfect copies of themselves, with one individual found to have done so millions of times in the past three decades. With this perpetual-cloning ability, the Cape honeybees sneak into the hives of their lowland honeybee rivals and churn out copy after copy (no need for a queen). Even worse, these clones are freeloaders, refusing to do any work. https://www.livescience.com/bee-creates-perfect-clone-army.html

- “This house is forever”.
I found this Mumblegore indie title that clocked in at 1h37m. It’s a surreal tale of creeping dehumanization, and a cosmic horror of millennial’s complex situation regarding home ownership as a trap, and that it’s all a scam both in trying to become part of the grid, just as you have to sell so much of yourself to exist in that world. I watched this during the darkest days of the pandemic. It was so ultimately fitting and just perfect. Quite a big recommendation for horror fans.
About mentioning the length, even horror has crept up in runtime so that it’s nearly impossible to have an efficiently paced and edited story, coupled with some modern insecurity in not being able to be a straight ahead script without layers of complex subtext and meaning. This movie delivered just over 90 minutes, and it’s one case where there’s a lot going on but you don’t need a degree to get it, while not being all exposition and smack you in the face bad writing.
I’ve so much respect for directors who get that horror doesn’t always have to be complex drama, and 87 minutes can be a FANTASTIC film. Mumblegore gets this… and Coherence, Invitation, etc are good at that. Benson and Moorhead are great. i truly appreciate it. I think Gravity is a great example a HUGE and ambitious film that can still use thematic language and simple story efficiently enough to get in at 91 minutes, whilst still blowing up the box office and winning academy awards.

- I just drove 2700 miles. Because of the infamous Russian “brick” dashcam (don’t click, & DO NOT watch dashcam with audio. It’s famously the saddest video on the internet), all I think about is whether trucker loads are tied down properly. All my driving on road trips is severely defensive… I like space between all vehicles in front, behind, and to the side. Not everyone plays that game so you need to be on your toes. But it’s the consumer / contractor types that are also ones to worry about. The amount of unsafe loads I saw on the road this time out was harrowing.
Load securement is important for the safety of everyone on the road. Fortunately, no one in this vehicle was injured when a board came through the windshield! This incident occurred June 17 on I-80 in Portage County. The at-fault driver was unaware he had lost part of his load. pic.twitter.com/a8FdIiXfOU
