I hate that humans need codes of war… to be told NOT to pee on dead bodies. Â What I hate even more is the systematic use of rape in front of family members to destroy morale and drive potential soldiers insane, and incapable of fighting. Â Rape as a tool of war.
Then there was what the Germans, Iraqi’s, or Japanese did in the name of “research”. Â The US has done some bad stuff, but I don’t think any stuff comes close to the other atrocities committed by different countries. The problem, as a world leader and a “role model” supposedly, is that we will wear slighter infractions in a more precarious and destabilizing manner.
The Taliban and Al Queda can run planes into buildings and cut off people’s heads, and we, western civilization debates the complexity of the situation, the dangers of blind racism against Muslims, etc. Â We pee on their dead, the fatwah, the new terror sign ups, and greater Mesopotamian and middle eastern animosity will grow.
It’s so complex, but the double standards and the ethics we are accountable to, rightfully so, compared to the more savage ideologies, is challenging for our world image… especially because a couple meathead, racist marines make a amoral call peeing on the dead, and an idiotic call filming it.
