Robert Smith sound checked with The Cure, 17 October 1980, in Amsterdam. He named the beginning of the check “I Hate Rock n Roll”, which then led into “The Holy Hour”, which Robert dedicated to Ian Curtis (Joy Division’s lead singer, who had recently committed suicide on the 18th of May, 1980).

This, my friends, is what we call a spectacular moment of music history. Thank you recording people and engineers and sound wizards. SO MUCH.
