Wow.
Wild. Â It amazes me. Â In fact, it’s really important to point out that their market is CONSUMERS. Â Unlike Windows based machines, they don’t have any market share in a professional or business setting. Maybe a couple percent, but the economy doesn’t run on Apple’s computers. Â Being able to be this brazenly successful, thumbing their nose at their own market segments with controlled obsolescence…. it shocks me that people keep eating the pellets and consuming so mindlessly. Â The free market that is tech means that, although Apple has beautiful UI and design, there are plenty of products that, typically, do more, and better. Â Apple even cannibalizes itself by creating products that eat up their old consumers…. ipod to itouch to iphone to ipad…. Of course they have all of them, but no one is buying a new one of the obsolete techs (upgrades, however, are obvious. Â New iphone 5, no new ipod, more likely). Â But the way that Apple preys on it’s fanboys is going to ruin them eventually? With no long term stable professsional business or government markets, the future looks tumultuous for Apple, who will need to find leadership relatively soon. Â As soon as a new economic crisis happens, or the free market produces exceedingly better machines from competition, Apple’s demographic could turn on a dime, with a few, simple, bad decisions for the brand. Â The economic and business realm turns like a freighter, while the consumer market is fickle and can move like a jet ski. Â If Apple keeps being so blase, as well as exploiting their consumer, it’s going to effect the brand long term. Â The ads saying “well, then it’s not an iphone”, etc will only brainwash the stupid for so long – they’re going to realize that all the other tech does the same stuff and sometimes it does it better.
But perception is everything. Â I do think Apple’s market share and user base will make it less stable than other firms, long term…. obviously Android’s reach, coupled with a potential OS (soon) from Google plus existing Dos/Windows/Linux work environments…. Apple needs to gain ground, or people will think the time to sell stock is right.. about… now. Â If you like to sell at a high, that is.
It’s just that they have, in all probability, built the most graceful, stunning example of the beauty of human design and ingenuity, in the history of man. Â That’s crazy. So good for them for being so pricey. Â Wow.
I don’t know much about things, generally. I certainly don’t get this, it’s likely forest for the trees. Â But maybe. You never know.
