I saw this meme, and it made me realize I had an email from 2007 with wildly funny URLs made back when the internet was a silly, fun, innocent, and weird place rapidly onboarding people that had only existed in the logic of our real world. Maybe some of this is on the sly, but it’s simply when you put words together, they can come back apart in interesting ways.
I’d say 1/3 of them still work as intended, 1/3 redirect harmlessly, and 1/3 are dead / gone. But they existed, and this is so funny. I’d say the dead ones are likely because they seriously made an error, vs “Pen Island” getting good traffic that may convert.
